Castor Oil Pack: This is an external application of warm Castor Oil, generally to the abdomen but can be applied anywhere on the body to improve circulation and digestion and to encourage gentle detoxification.
Gua Sha: Also known as scraping, this method has been used in Chinese medicine for sore and stiff muscles. An herbal medicated oil is applied to the skin followed by localized scraping with a blunt-tip instrument. Results and relief generally are immediate with the improved circulation and reduced inflammation.
Moxabustion: A warming therapy developed in Chinese medicine to address imbalances in energy and/or blood. It involves burning a stick of Mugwort over the affected area. This treatment is as relaxing as it is effective, and can be used to address many ailments, including menstrual cramps, poor digestion, or muscle and joint pain.
Hara Massage: Massage techniques specifically designed to address our “belly” or core, and the energetic meridians running through this area. Includes but not limited to medicated oil and shitasu techniques. Enhances digestion and improves elimination. Assists in moving chi, or life energy, throughout the body, reducing energetic and physical stagnation.
Cupping: Chinese medicine technique which involves plastic cups placed on the skin and then suction applied to cups by hand pump. This method lifts superficial tissues which is then allowed to release tension. Very effective for muscle pain, chronic coughs, asthma, GI complaints, and to aid in detoxification.
Reiki: A gentle healing technique from Japan to address energetic blockages or chakra imbalances. The practitioner maintains certain hand positions over and along the sides of the body. While there is generally little to no physical contact, the energetic effects are deeply therapeutic.
