Yoga at the Fort

Fort Gorges, a Civil War-era granite fort surrounded by water, is one of the most fascinating spots in Casco Bay, and it's only accessible by small boat. The former parade grounds, surrounded by gorgeous granite walls, is a remarkably ideal spot for yoga. The trip will begin with your licensed kayak guide offering a basic kayak lesson and then leading the group on a paddle through Portland harbor and across open water to tiny Hog Island. You'll land on a beach by the fort's entrance and explore its elegant granite halls and dark passageways. Make sure you check out the gorgeous view of the Portland skyline from the rooftop!  

Then your yoga class will begin in the grassy, calm parade grounds of the fort. You'll stretch, strengthen and rejuvenate. The yoga class is suitable for all ages & abilities. The kayaking part of the trip is great for all skill levels -- even first-time kayakers.

Full Moon Paddle on Casco Bay

The silence and darkness that envelopes Casco Bay at night can be incredibly peaceful. But there's also plenty to look at: The stars overhead, the sparkling bioluminescence in the waters below and the flickering lights of the Portland skyline. This tour offers a chance to see an entirely different side of Portland harbor when a full moon lights up the bay.

Your guide will start your tour off with a brief paddling lesson and safety talk before leading you past rocky Fish Point and towards Portland harbor.  Then you'll glide through the darkening waters looking out for seals and bioluminescence as you make your way back to the mainland. The group will stick close together, keeping track of each other with the help of flashlights.

Herbal & Kitchen First Aid

Learn some tips and guidelines to address first aid needs, with herbs and/or whatever is on hand in the kitchen/garden. Learn basic acupressure points and self care techniques to approach a variety of ailments, including headaches, nausea, common cold, constipation, cramps and muscular pain, arthritis, bug bites, etc... Specific formulas and contraindications will be offered. These practices draw from global influences, including Western herbs, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Ayurveda.
